Joint Operation Leads to Arrest
In a significant crackdown on illicit activities, a joint team comprising Thoubal Commandos (CDOs) and a column of the 37 Assam Rifles (AR) successfully arrested two active members of the proscribed KCP (Taibanganba) outfit. The operation took place last evening as the suspects were attempting extortion from the general public.
Identified Individuals
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Wangjam Mukesh Singh, also known as Koba (41) from Bishnupur Ward No. 1, and Thokchom Ajit Singh (33) from Kakching Ningthou Leikai. These arrests were made along NH-102 near Dhaka Brick Field, a notorious area for such illegal activities.
Seized Items
During the operation, authorities confiscated several significant items, which include:
- 26 extortion demand letters of the KCP (Taibanganba) group
- A Hyundai Xcent car
- Two mobile phones with SIM cards
These items are expected to provide valuable evidence in the ongoing investigation.
Legal Proceedings
A case has been registered at Khongjom Police Station under the relevant sections. The authorities are continuing their investigation to dismantle the network of the KCP (Taibanganba) outfit and prevent further extortion activities in the region.
