Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh clinched a bronze medal in the mixed 10m air pistol event at the Paris 2024 Olympics, on Tuesday, July 30, marking India’s second bronze of the Games.
Manu Bhaker has etched her name in Indian sports history by becoming the first female athlete from the country to win two medals in a single edition of the Olympics. Bhaker secured a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, adding to her earlier bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event and ending a 12-year medal drought for India in shooting at the Olympics.
The Bhaker-Singh duo qualified for the bronze medal match after finishing third in the qualification with a score of 580. Despite narrowly missing out on the gold medal match by a single point, the Indian team showcased impressive skill and composure. They established a dominant lead of 14-6 before South Korea mounted a comeback, closing the gap to 14-10. However, India secured the final series, reaching 16 points to seal their victory.
