Surprise Raid in Senapati Uncovers Expired Medicines and goods in Pharmacies and shops, Fines Imposed on Shopkeepers

Senapati, Sept 12: A surprise inspection in Senapati on Thursday uncovered expired medicines and other outdated products being sold in local pharmacies and shops. This operation, led by the Consumer Club, Naga People’s Organization (NPO), Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA), and Senapati District Women’s Association (SDWA), resulted in fines being imposed on around 20 shopkeepers for violating consumer protection regulations.

The inspection, which lasted through the evening, aimed to enforce consumer rights and ensure public safety. Several pharmacies were found violating regulations by selling expired medications. As a result, fines ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000 were issued to the offending shopkeepers.

The initiative highlights a broader effort to raise awareness about consumer rights and the importance of regulatory compliance. The participating organizations emphasized the need for continued vigilance and accountability in the retail sector to prevent future violations.
