Imphal, October 2, 2024: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh conveyed his profound sadness over a violent event in Ukhrul District that claimed the lives of three people, including two civilians and one MR personnel, and left several others injured.
Expressing deep sorrow, Singh offered condolences to the bereaved families and wished for the rapid recovery of the injured. He assured that the District Administration, District Police, and security forces took all necessary actions to manage the situation effectively. The administration, with the help of local MLAs, is providing assistance to the injured and their families.
The Chief Minister announced that ex-gratia and financial assistance would be extended to the families of the deceased and the injured, with distributions already in progress and expected to conclude by tomorrow.
Singh emphasized that the government is facilitating appropriate medical treatment for all injured individuals in both Imphal and Ukhrul. He urged cooperation from all stakeholders, including the public, leaders, and civil society organizations, to help restore peace and normalcy in the area.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to resolving conflicts through dialogue and understanding, while assuring the public that those responsible for inciting violence would not go unpunished.
