Imphal, Oct 4:    Rajya Sabha MP Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba, has expressed his disappointment following the Union Cabinet decision to grant classical language status to five Indian languages Assamese, Bengali, Marathi, Pali, and Prakrit, excluding Manipuri.

Having advocated for the inclusion of Manipuri in the classical language category for the past four to five years, the MP reflected on the lost opportunity, saying, “I have been trying to include our Manipuri Language in the Classical Status, but due to a lack of Political Pressure, Lobby and Inactive from our side, we have lost a golden chance this time.”
