Phek, Oct 7: Pritpal Kaur, an IPS officer from the 2016 batch and currently serving as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Phek district, Nagaland, has been honored with the prestigious “IACP 40 Under 40” award for 2024. She is the only Indian officer to be recognized by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), which highlights young police professionals for their leadership and commitment to law enforcement.
The IACP, a global organization focused on enhancing public safety, selected police officers from six countries for this accolade, recognizing individuals for their impact, regardless of rank or position.
Kaur has had a notable career in the IPS, previously serving as the first SP of Nagaland’s border district, Noklak, where she played a pivotal role in maintaining peace, resolving land disputes, and preventing border conflicts. She also led anti-drug campaigns, rehabilitating hundreds through treatment and counseling.
Trained initially as a dentist, Kaur’s passion for policing was evident early on, and she has led several community policing projects, often in remote areas needing police intervention. Over the years, she has been awarded the International Inspiration Women Award 2023, Skoch Gold Award 2023, Women Power India Award 2023, and the Global Women Leader Award 2024.
One of Kaur’s most meaningful recognitions is the tribal name “Themshao Lam,” bestowed upon her by the Khiamnuingan Naga community, acknowledging her protection and sacrifices for the people.
Kaur will travel to Boston, Massachusetts, on October 22, 2024, to receive the IACP award.
