Chief Minister N Biren Singh Inaugurates Training Centre and Three Night Shelters for Construction Workers

IMPHAL, Oct 10:    Chief Minister N. Biren Singh inaugurated a training centre and three night shelters for Building and Other Construction Workers (BOC) today. The event was organized by the Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board under the Department of Skills, Labour, Employment & Entrepreneurship at the ITI campus in Takyelpat, Imphal.

The newly launched Training Centre aims to empower workers by providing essential skills and knowledge to enhance their employability and productivity. The introduction of three Night Shelters will offer a secure and dignified environment for workers to rest after a long day on the job.

During the inauguration, CM Biren highlighted the government’s unwavering support for the working class since the BJP came to power in the state. He noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, a project worth approximately Rs 150 crores has been sanctioned for the construction of hostels for working women in ten locations across the state. Additionally, around Rs 10 crores has been allocated for establishing a skill development centre for youth in the Takyel area.

The Chief Minister also announced that loans of up to Rs 10 lakhs, with a 30 percent subsidy, are available for the weaker sections of society under the One Family One Livelihood scheme, aimed at improving their standard of living. He urged the public to take advantage of these benefits.

Furthermore, CM Biren commended MLA of Patsoi AC, Shri Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh, for his efforts in securing approval for a Rs 400 crore project from the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways for repairing roads damaged by recent floods in the state.

He also assured that the free distribution of fortified rice under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) scheme would continue until 2028. Acknowledging the state’s limitations in providing jobs for all educated youths, CM Singh emphasized the government’s initiatives to offer skill-based training programs to enhance employability, particularly prioritizing displaced youth.

Addressing the rising cases of dengue fever in the state, the Chief Minister urged the public to take precautions to prevent infection. He concluded his speech by assuring that the government is committed to ensuring an uninterrupted supply of essential commodities in the state and expressed the hope that the public would work together to find an amicable resolution to the ongoing crisis.

The inaugural program was attended by several dignitaries, including ministers, the Advocate General, MLAs, the Chairman of the Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, and officials from the Department of Labour, Employment & Entrepreneurship.
