New Delhi, Oct 10: India secured an emphatic 86-run victory against Bangladesh in the second T20 International, clinching the three-match series 2-0 with a game to spare at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The win marks India’s largest margin of victory by runs against Bangladesh in T20I history, surpassing their previous 50-run win during the recent T20 World Cup.
India, after being put into bat, posted a formidable 221 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Nitish Reddy was the standout performer with the bat, smashing 74 runs, while Rinku Singh contributed a crucial 53. Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets.
In response, Bangladesh struggled to build momentum and could only manage 135 for 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Mahmudullah was the top scorer for the visitors with 41 runs. India’s bowlers, led by Nitish Reddy and Varun Chakaravarthy with two wickets each, stifled the Bangladesh batting lineup. Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar, Abhishek Sharma, Mayank Yadav, and Riyan Parag each chipped in with a wicket.
Nitish Reddy was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance with both bat and ball.
The third and final T20 International match between India and Bangladesh is scheduled to be played in Hyderabad on Saturday.
