IMPHAL, Oct 12: Manipur Police on Friday apprehended an active member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Lamyanba Khuman), in a major operation aimed at curbing extortion activities in the state.

The individual, identified as 42-year-old Leiphrakpam Jeneyson Singh, also known as Punil, was arrested from the MG Avenue area in Imphal West District. A resident of Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak in Imphal West, Singh was allegedly involved in extorting money from various shops in Imphal, according to police sources.
