NEW DELHI, Oct 14: External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar inaugurated the upgraded eMigrate V2.0 web portal and mobile app in Delhi today, enhancing the government’s efforts to ensure safe and legal migration for Indian workers abroad. The platform, which currently has 2.81 lakh registered foreign employers, aims to streamline mobility channels for Indian migrants and offers improved transparency and safety.
In his address, Dr. Jaishankar emphasized that eMigrate V2.0 is a significant step towards creating a secure and inclusive framework for Indian workers seeking opportunities overseas. He noted the government’s commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of Indian workers in foreign countries. Highlighting the growing global demand for skilled labor, the minister pointed out that the need for a well-trained workforce will continue to rise.
Dr. Jaishankar also shared that in recent years, passport issuance in India has nearly doubled, reflecting an increase in mobility. He praised the use of technology in enhancing the functionality of the eMigrate portal, making it more efficient. Furthermore, he expressed satisfaction that the platform will now extend social security benefits to Indian migrants, offering them greater protection during their overseas employment.
