IMPHAL, Oct 14: A joint team of security forces captured seven members of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) Nongdrenkhomba faction in Langol Game Village Zone III, Imphal West, on Monday.
During a press briefing, Ksh. Shivakanta Singh, SP of Imphal West said the arrests occurred during a cordon and search operation initiated after receiving credible intelligence about the group’s presence and their plans for unlawful activities, including extortion and threats.
The detained individuals are Loushambam Anin Singh (26), Konsam Rohit Singh (23), Sanju Wahengbam (20), Phanjoubam Thoiba Mangang (26), Waikhom Hero Meitei (21), Yanglem Bikash Meitei (23), and Henthoiba Moirangthem (41). The operation resulted in the recovery of a Toyota Fortuner, a Hyundai Grand i10, a Royal Enfield motorcycle, two pistols, and camouflage uniforms.
A case has been registered at Lamphel Police Station for further investigation.
