AGARTALA, Oct 14: A 51-year-old man in Tripura has been arrested for allegedly murdering his estranged wife and her mother following a social media post.
The incident occurred in the West Tripura district, where the accused, a resident of Madhupur in Sepahijala district, had been living apart from his wife for over a year due to ongoing divorce proceedings.
On Sunday, the victim shared photographs on social media from the Durga Puja celebrations with two male friends. Enraged by the images, the accused devised a plan to kill her. When his wife and mother-in-law were returning home, he attacked them with a sharp object, killing both women on the spot.
A police team arrived shortly after and discovered the bodies lying in a pool of blood. The accused was apprehended within an hour of the crime, and authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. He is expected to be presented before a court soon.
