SENAPATI, Oct 21: Assam Rifles, in collaboration with local communities, marked Manipur’s historic integration into India by organizing celebrations in Maram, Senapati District, and Hengbung, Kangpokpi District. The event commemorated Manipur’s 1949 merger with India after Independence, an important moment in the state’s history.
The event drew participants from various tribes, village authorities, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), ex-servicemen, and student unions. It symbolized unity and the shared commitment to India’s national identity. A flag hoisting ceremony initiated the program, followed by a solemn pledge reaffirming loyalty to national unity and integrity.
During the event, participants shared ideas and strengthened bonds through an interactive tea session, fostering camaraderie. The gathering highlighted the unity among Manipur’s diverse communities and their collective commitment to the nation.
