NEW DELHI, Oct 22: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved 50 National Highway projects totaling 1,026 kilometers in Manipur, with a strong focus on road development in the hill regions. Among these, 44 projects, covering 902 kilometers, are situated in the hilly areas of the state.
Currently, eight projects spanning 125 kilometers have been completed, while 36 projects worth ₹12,000 crore for 777 kilometers are still in progress. The Annual Plan for 2024-25 includes two National Highway projects valued at ₹1,350 crore, which will cover 90 kilometers in the hills.
Furthermore, under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), the Ministry has sanctioned a list of state road works as prioritized by the Manipur government. Out of the 111 projects on this priority list, 57 have received approval based on the Budgetary Outlay and State (BOS) ratio, which currently stands at 9.81 against the permissible limit of 4 for hilly states.
