TAMENGLONG, Oct 24: A 35-year-old woman from Njukuak Village, Mrs. Wilamhaliu, was recently transported on a bamboo stretcher for over 10 kilometres due to poor road conditions and a lack of medical facilities. Her village is located 16 kilometres from the Tousem Sub-Division Headquarters in Tamenglong District, Manipur.
The deteriorating road infrastructure and absence of proper healthcare access have made emergency medical services nearly impossible. This incident, which is unfortunately not isolated, highlights the urgent need for the government to improve road connectivity and medical facilities in these remote regions.
The village chairman, Mr. Kutleing Pame, appealed for immediate action and extended his gratitude to those keeping Mrs. Wilamhaliu in their thoughts and prayers as she continues to receive treatment in Silchar, Assam.
