IMPHAL, Oct 24: In a series of coordinated operations, the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police successfully recovered 11 weapons and various war-like materials across the hill and valley regions of Churachandpur, Chandel, and Thoubal districts in Manipur.
On October 22, 2024, an intelligence-driven operation was launched in the Thoroilok area of Churachandpur district. The operation, conducted in collaboration with the Manipur Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), resulted in the recovery of two country-made mortars (Pompi), a country-made pistol, grenades, explosives, ammunition, and other war-related materials.
On the same day, another successful operation by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police in Lamzang village, near Bongbal, led to the seizure of a .303 rifle, a single-barrel rifle, additional ammunition, and war-like supplies.
In Chandel district, Assam Rifles conducted combing operations between Songkhom and Gunjil villages, recovering an automatic weapon, two locally-made mortars (Pompi), a single-barrel gun, and further ammunition.
The following day, October 23, 2024, in Thoubal district, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police recovered a cache of weapons in Kwarok Maring village. The cache included a 9mm country-made pistol, a single-barrel breech-loading (SBBL) gun, two grenades, ammunition, and other war-like materials.
These successful recoveries highlight the effective collaboration between the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and local law enforcement agencies in their ongoing commitment to maintaining security in the region.
