IMPHAL, Oct 25: The Manipur government has unveiled a new housing complex in Langol, providing essential shelter for 120 families displaced by recent violence. Perched on a hill north of Imphal, this complex is now home to roughly 460 individuals from areas like Moreh, Churachandpur, and Phoubakchao.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh announced the development on X, underscoring the government’s commitment to supporting those affected by displacement. “The newly constructed housing complex at the National Games Village, Langol, stands as a beacon of hope for 120 families who have endured displacement,” he stated, highlighting the government’s resolve to ensure the well-being of every affected family.

This complex is part of broader efforts to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) who have been temporarily sheltered in educational institutions since violence erupted in May 2023. The Chief Minister further detailed plans for constructing over 7,600 additional temporary homes for displaced families, a project approved by the central government. Manipur’s administration remains focused on helping displaced families regain stability and rebuild their lives.
