GUWAHATI, Oct 26: Assam Police on Friday seized opium valued at over Rs 1 crore in Karbi Anglong district, following a tip-off about an incoming truck transporting narcotics.

Police intercepted the vehicle in the Six Mile area, under Dilai police station’s jurisdiction, as it was traveling from Manipur to Guwahati. Upon conducting a thorough inspection, officers found 12 packets of opium hidden within the truck’s dashboard.

The driver, Amit Singh, was immediately taken into custody, and the seized opium was confiscated. A case has been filed at Dilai police station as the investigation continues to determine the origin and intended destination of the illegal substance.
