SENAPATI, Oct 26: The Mao Students Union (MSU) welcomed Mizoram’s cyclist, Vanlallawmzuala Varte (LZ Varte), as he arrived in Manipur on his cross-country “Ride to Clean Air” cycling tour, aimed at raising awareness about environmental sustainability and clean air.
The 35-year-old cyclist from Aizawl embarked on this journey to promote Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), an initiative for eco-conscious living, with support from the Mizoram State Pollution Control Board.
Varte, driven by his passion for nature and his commitment to climate action, shared that his desire to address global warming and environmental change sparked back in 2009. Recognising that his love for cycling could serve as an impactful platform, he dedicated himself to spreading awareness across India.
He also called on Northeast communities to unite for environmental awareness, noting the region’s unique environmental challenges and the need for collective action to make a significant impact.
