DIMAPUR, Oct 28: An army officer stationed at Rangapahar Military Station in Dimapur, Nagaland, displayed extraordinary bravery by rescuing two young boys from drowning in the Dhansari River.
The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when two boys, aged 5 and 6, fell into the river’s deep, muddy waters while playing near its bank. Swept by strong currents, they struggled to stay afloat and were rapidly carried downstream.
Major Vishavdeep Singh Attri, who happened to be nearby, heard their cries and immediately took action. A trained swimmer, Major Attri fearlessly dived into the river and fought through the currents, mud, and thick vegetation to reach the boys. His swift response and determination enabled him to bring both children safely back to shore.
The boys were unharmed and soon reunited with their relieved families. Local residents praised Major Attri’s heroism and quick thinking, which prevented a tragic outcome.
