IMPHAL, Oct 29: Manipur’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pradeep Kumar Jha on Tuesday announced the release of the Draft Photo Electoral Rolls for all 60 Assembly Constituencies for the upcoming Assembly elections. This initiative, under the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) schedule, seeks to simplify the electoral process and increase voter engagement across Manipur.
The Draft Electoral Rolls are available for public inspection at the offices of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), as well as on the CEO’s official website, ceomanipur.nic.in. Recognized national and state political parties will receive a printed copy at no cost, with additional copies and DVD-ROMs of the data available for purchase.
According to the new rolls, the gender ratio is recorded at 1069, a slight rise from 1068 in the January 2024 rolls. However, the Elector Population Ratio has decreased to 54.84% from 55.54%. The current total electorate stands at 2,034,660, marking a net increase of 8,037 voters since the final 2024 rolls. The number of polling stations remains stable at 2,955.
Starting today, the Special Summary Revision (SSR) allows eligible citizens to enroll, update, or remove names from the rolls. The period for filing claims and objections extends from October 29 to November 28, with November 9 and 10 designated as special campaign days. The final roll will be published on January 6, 2025.
To encourage youth participation, the CEO plans to conduct extensive awareness initiatives at universities and colleges. These will include activating Electoral Literacy Clubs and organizing special camps to assist with registration. Additionally, a Special Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign, themed “Eikhoi Voter Challasi,” was launched by CEO Pradeep Kumar Jha. Mobile vans equipped with voter information will travel statewide to foster an inclusive voting process.
CEO Jha called on all eligible citizens to participate actively, saying, “Your voice matters. Come forward and ensure your name is included in the electoral rolls.”
