IMPHAL, Oct 31: Security forces in Manipur have ramped up search and area domination operations across hill and valley districts, focusing particularly on vulnerable and fringe areas. In one major operation at Panjang village, situated along the Thangjing ridge in Churachandpur District, multiple weapons were seized, including two 8-foot rockets, two 7-foot rockets, two large and one medium-sized country-made mortars, three improvised mortar bombs, a radio set, and two country-made grenades.
These efforts aim to stabilize violence-prone areas and ensure safe passage for essential goods. Forces provided convoy escorts, successfully guiding 201 vehicles along National Highway-37 and 351 vehicles on National Highway-2 under heightened security measures.
A network of 109 Nakas or checkpoints has been set up throughout the state’s hill and valley regions, and eight individuals have been detained for various violations across districts. The state’s ongoing security operations are vital in recovering illegal arms, protecting transport routes, and maintaining public safety amid continued tensions in Manipur.
