IMPHAL, Nov 2: A group of 25 personnel from the Indian Army’s Parachute Regiment has left for Cijantung, Jakarta, Indonesia, to participate in the 9th edition of the India-Indonesia Joint Special Forces Exercise, Garud Shakti 24, taking place from November 1 to November 12, 2024, as reported by Lt Col Amit Shukla, PRO (Defence) for Kohima, Imphal, and Arunachal Pradesh.
The Indian contingent will join forces with 40 members of Indonesia’s Special Forces unit, Kopassus, for the exercise. GARUD SHAKTI 24 is designed to enhance mutual understanding, cooperation, and interoperability between the Special Forces of both nations.
The focus of the exercise will be on the planning and execution of special operations, improving advanced special forces skills, and sharing knowledge about weapons, equipment, and tactical innovations. Activities will include conducting tactical military drills, performing joint operations in jungle terrain, and striking terrorist camps, alongside a Validation Exercise integrating both basic and advanced special forces techniques.
Moreover, the exercise will allow participants to gain insights into the cultures and lifestyles of both countries, further strengthening military cooperation and fostering bonds between their armies. It will also serve as an important platform for achieving common security goals and enhancing bilateral relations between India and Indonesia.
