FLORIDA, Nov 6: Donald Trump has been elected as the 47th President of the United States on Wednesday, narrowly winning against Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
Speaking to supporters at the Palm Beach Convention Center in Florida, Trump expressed gratitude to Americans, calling his victory part of an unprecedented political movement. He pledged to work tirelessly to deliver a “strong, safe, and prosperous America,” calling this period the “golden age of America.”
In a close race, Trump currently leads with 265 electoral votes to Harris’s 194, just shy of the 270 needed. Trump also celebrated winning the popular vote, seeing it as a significant endorsement.
Outlining his administration’s goals, Trump promised to focus on national healing, secure borders, reduce taxes, and address the national debt. “We are going to help our country heal,” he said. Trump also confirmed that Republicans regained control of the Senate with strong results and anticipated holding the House of Representatives as well.
Trump addressed concerns over election integrity, affirming he would accept defeat only in a “fair election” and questioning electronic voting systems. “If I lose and it’s fair, I’d be the first to accept it,” he said after voting in Florida.
He also praised tech innovator Elon Musk, calling him a “genius” and a “new star” for his achievements with SpaceX. He humorously added, “He sent a rocket up, I saw it coming down,” pointing out Tesla CEO Musk’s ambitious ventures like SpaceX, which have captured attention of the masses. Trump noted the importance of nurturing talent like Musk, saying, “We don’t have many of them.”
