IMPHAL, Nov 6: A joint team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police seized a cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives in an operation targeting a village along the Manipur-Myanmar border over the past 24 hours.
Acting on intelligence about an illegal militant camp in the Samukom area of Tengnoupal District, security forces launched a coordinated search. During the operation, they recovered two pistols, three Pompi firearms (two large, one small), eight 7.62 mm live rounds, two pistol rounds, nine IEDs, eight high-explosive Pompi grenades, two explosive material cakes, eight No. 36 hand grenades, and two walkie-talkies.
The seized items were handed over to the Manipur Police for further legal procedures. Security officials noted that this action was part of a broader effort to strengthen surveillance and control in vulnerable hill and valley areas across Manipur, addressing ongoing security concerns in the border region.
