NONEY, Nov 7: The Rongmei Naga Students’ Organization Manipur (RNSOM) has strongly condemned the abduction and brutal assault of 23-year-old railway driver Mr. Joshua Kamei, son of Mr. Kanjei Kamei, from Kambiron (Puiluan) Village, Noney District.
In a press release on Thursday, RNSOM said the incident occurred on 5th November 2024, at around 12 p.m near the Kheikhu Kabui Khul Gate in Imphal East, where Mr. Kamei was kidnapped by militants of the Arambai Tenggol (AT) group.
According to RNSOM, after his abduction, Mr. Kamei was subjected to severe torture and interrogation at the militants’ camp. The organization has labeled this act as a grave human rights violation, emphasizing that such violence threatens the safety and dignity of the Naga people.
In response, RNSOM has issued several demands:
-The immediate cessation of violent activities by the AT extremists.
-Swift investigation, prosecution, and justice for Mr. Kamei.
-Community unity against senseless violence and extortion.
RNSOM further warned that if authorities do not address the rising violence in the region, it could lead to severe consequences. The organization reaffirmed its stand of zero tolerance for violence and a commitment to ensuring justice for victims of such crimes.
