IMPHAL, Nov 9: Security forces have uncovered a substantial cache of weapons, explosives, and equipment during extensive search and area domination operations across vulnerable regions in Manipur’s hill and valley districts. The coordinated efforts were conducted in several areas, including Imphal West, Imphal East, and Kakching districts, aiming to curb armed threats and improve local security.
In Imphal West’s Thingom area, security teams discovered a variety of arms, including a carbine machine gun, a grenade launcher, a locally manufactured 9mm pistol, multiple hand grenades, and a wireless communication device. Similarly, operations in the Changsang Hill Range in Imphal East led to the recovery of a country-made carbine, high-explosive and Chinese hand grenades, AK rifle ammunition, and a radio set, highlighting a diverse array of arms in possession.
In Kakching district’s Laimanai Laimaton Ching areas, the security forces located more weaponry and tactical gear, such as a country-made pistol, a tear gas gun, tear smoke shells, and a helmet, underscoring continued security concerns.
These efforts underscore the commitment of security forces in tackling arms proliferation and maintaining stability across Manipur’s vulnerable regions.
