IMPHAL, Nov 11: A series of successful joint operations by the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, and other security forces have resulted in the recovery of significant quantities of weapons, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), ammunition, and warlike stores across several districts in Manipur, including Imphal West, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Tengnoupal, and Kakching.
On November 8, 2024, in the Thingom area of Yangoi Lambi in Imphal West District, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police recovered one 9mm carbine machine gun, one grenade launcher, one 9mm pistol, grenades, ammunition, and additional warlike stores.
The following day, on November 9, 2024, another operation in the jungles of Lkhonomphai village in Sangaikot, Churachandpur District led to the recovery of one .303 rifle, two 9mm pistols, six 12 Bore Single Barrel Rifles, one .22 rifle, ammunition, and other warlike stores. In a separate operation in the general area between S Choungoubung and Maohing in Kangpokpi District, forces seized one 5.56mm INSAS rifle, one .303 rifle, two SBBL guns, two .22 pistols, two improvised projectile launchers, grenades, ammunition, and additional warlike stores.
On November 10, 2024, a joint operation by Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, and BSF in the Utangpokpi area of Kakching District resulted in the recovery of one .22 rifle, ammunition, and other warlike stores.
The recovered items have been handed over to Manipur Police. These successful operations highlight the effective cooperation between the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and local law enforcement agencies, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring regional security and safety.
