IMPHAL, Nov 12:   Imphal West district was gripped by violence last night as suspected Kuki militants launched an armed attack in the outskirts of Kangchup and Koutruk, resulting in two injuries and extensive property damage.

The assailants, reportedly carrying heavy weaponry, fired indiscriminately at residential areas along the Kangpokpi-Imphal West border. The situation worsened when militants set numerous houses and shops on fire in Kangchup Chingkhong, a neighborhood near the border, triggering widespread fear among residents.

The assault forced many to seek refuge in safer locations, heightening tensions in the area and exposing the fragile security in these vulnerable border communities.
