NEW DELHI, Dec 10: The ongoing Winter session of Parliament was marked by chaos today as both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned for the day due to a heated uproar over allegations involving billionaire investor George Soros and the Adani Group.
In the Lok Sabha, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused the Congress leadership of colluding with Soros and anti-India forces. His remarks, made during Zero Hour, sparked an immediate uproar, with opposition members rushing to the Well of the House. Rijiju also criticized Congress leaders for their disruptive tactics, such as entering the House with masks and jackets adorned with caricatures, stating that such actions were undermining the dignity of Parliament. The protest intensified, with opposition leaders disrupting the proceedings, ultimately leading to the adjournment of the House for the day.
In the Rajya Sabha, the situation escalated after Leader of the House JP Nadda raised the issue of alleged links between the Congress leadership and George Soros. Nadda questioned Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s role as “co-chair of an organization funded by Soros,” accusing her of involvement in efforts to destabilize the country. His comments were met with immediate backlash from the opposition benches. Congress Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha, Pramod Tiwari, rejected the allegations and countered by bringing up the Adani issue, accusing the Adani group of paying bribes worth Rs 23,000 crore, as suggested by a US Attorney.
The heated exchanges between the treasury and opposition benches, with slogans raised on both sides, led the Chairman to adjourn the Rajya Sabha for the day.
