IMPHAL, Jan 9: A bomb was hurled at a fuel station in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Thursday night, triggering an explosion but leaving no one injured, officials said on Friday.
According to police, unidentified miscreants riding a two-wheeler threw the explosive device at Elidas fuel station located at Moirang Thana Leikai around 8 pm. The impact caused an explosion at the premises, creating panic in the area.
No casualties were reported in the incident, officials confirmed.
Police have launched an investigation into the attack and are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the culprits. Security has also been stepped up in the vicinity as a precautionary measure.
The incident comes barely a month after fuel station owners in Manipur had threatened to shut down operations across the state, citing extortion-related threats, raising fresh concerns over the safety of business establishments.
