Breakthrough in Vihozhonu Zao Murder Case: Kohima Police Arrest Prime Accused

KOHIMA, Nov 5: In a major breakthrough, Kohima Police have arrested 31-year-old Samuel Zao, the uncle of 22-year-old Vihozhonu Zao, in connection with her gruesome murder that had sent shockwaves across Nagaland.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police Krodi Rhetso said that the arrest was made following an intensive investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Additional SP K. Soriso. The accused has reportedly confessed to committing the crime on October 24 at around 2 PM.

According to police, Samuel struck Vihozhonu with a piece of firewood in a fit of rage after she allegedly responded dismissively to his request to prepare tea. He then attempted to destroy evidence by disposing of the blood-stained sweater used during the incident.

Describing it as a challenging blind case, SP Rhetso commended the SIT’s coordinated efforts and the crucial role of public cooperation in cracking the case.
