IMPHAL, July 10: A joint team of Manipur Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Wednesday intercepted a vehicle at Tupul bridge—connecting Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts—and seized 2.193 kilograms of heroin, commonly known as brown sugar.
According to officials, the illicit substance was concealed in 196 soap cases inside a four-wheeler vehicle reportedly traveling from Churachandpur towards Kangpokpi. Two individuals—identified as Ginminlen Haokip (24) of G. Phaibung, Motbung, Kangpokpi district, and Holminlen Khongsai (30) of Khangbarol village, Chandel district—were arrested on the spot.
Police have initiated a thorough investigation to trace the source and destination of the drug consignment.
