IMPHAL, June 26: BJP MLA Khongbantabam Ibomcha on Thursday said that central BJP leaders are making sustained and serious efforts to create a conducive atmosphere for restoring a stable and popular government in Manipur, which has been under President’s Rule since February 13.
Addressing reporters at the BJP Bhavan in Imphal, the Lamlai Assembly Constituency legislator emphasized that establishing a favourable environment is a prerequisite for reviving democratic governance in the conflict-torn state.
“Establishing a favourable environment for a stable and popular government is crucial. The central leaders have been working tirelessly, engaging with various stakeholders,” Ibomcha said.
The MLA was accompanied by fellow BJP legislator Yumnam Khemchand. Both leaders met with BJP Manipur president A. Sharda Devi before the press interaction. Devi had recently held discussions with top central BJP leaders in Delhi, including national president JP Nadda and national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh, to discuss the evolving political situation in the state.
“The Centre, along with all of us, are trying hard to create a conducive atmosphere. We are witnessing talks between different groups and the Centre. This is also a part of creating a conducive atmosphere. We are all at a crucial step, and the right step can bring a solution to the conflict,” Ibomcha said.
He also appealed to all civil society organisations in Manipur to support the Centre’s peace efforts aimed at restoring democratic governance in Manipur.
