New Delhi, July 19: Ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, the Government has called for an all-party meeting on Sunday, July 20, to ensure smooth proceedings and seek consensus on critical legislative priorities. The Monsoon Session is scheduled to run from July 21 to August 21.
The meeting aims to build cooperation among political parties as the government prepares to table a number of significant bills in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. Among the key legislations on the agenda is the Geo-heritage Sites and Geo-relics (Preservation and Maintenance) Bill, which seeks to protect India’s rich geological history and ancient relics.
The session is also expected to see the introduction of the National Sports Governance Bill, aimed at reforming and streamlining the functioning of sports bodies across the country. Other important bills listed include the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, and amendments to the IIM Act and Taxation Laws.
Additionally, the Centre is likely to present the Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill and the highly anticipated Income Tax Bill, 2025, as part of its economic and regulatory overhaul.
A politically significant move is also expected during the session, as the government is likely to seek Parliament’s approval for the extension of President’s Rule in Manipur, where the law and order situation remains fragile. The move could spark intense debates, given the continuing unrest in the northeastern state.
