District Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 Held at Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram

MARAM, Feb 28:        The District Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament (VBYP) 2026 was successfully held at Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram on Friday under the theme “50 Years of Emergency: Lessons for Indian Democracy.”

The programme was organised by the National Service Scheme (NSS) of Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram, which served as the Nodal Institution. The event was conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat).

The Youth Parliament aimed to promote constitutional awareness, democratic values, and critical engagement among young citizens. It provided a platform for students to reflect on the historical significance of the Emergency and its lessons for strengthening democratic institutions in contemporary India, aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat.

The programme was inaugurated by Fr. (Dr.) K.O. Sebastian, Principal of Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram, who highlighted the responsibility of youth in safeguarding democracy and participating actively in nation-building. The session was graced by Dr. Joseph Cherian, Controller of Examinations, DBCM; Mr. Bongnaba H., Finance Secretary, MKS; Ms. Paulina Monsang, Director, NYKS & MYB Senapati; along with Mr. John Britto, Mr. John Linglee, Mr. Nicolas, Sr. Asani and Mr. Philip NSS Programme Officers of the Nodal Institution and representatives from Asufii Christian Institution.

A total of 60 students participated enthusiastically and presented well-articulated, insightful, and forward-looking views on the theme. The discussions reflected strong democratic consciousness, leadership qualities, and commitment towards responsible citizenship.

Based on the evaluation as per the prescribed norms, five top participants were selected at the District Level and their names will be forwarded to the Ministry for participation in the State Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament. The institution extends its heartfelt congratulations to the selected candidates and wishes them the very best in representing the district at the State Level.

The programme concluded successfully, reaffirming the role of youth engagement in shaping a vibrant and participatory democracy.
