“As India’s democracy evolves with about 371 million young people aged 18–29 and nearly 65% of the population under 35, youth participation in politics or nation-building is not only inevitable but also indispensable,” she stated. She encouraged participants to articulate their ideas and aspirations to build a better nation and informed that the top five winners would represent Chandel at the state-level competition.

Speaking on the occasion, SDO Chandel Reikimdaar Khaling reflected on the 21-month-long national Emergency declared in 1975 and its impact on Indian democracy. “Democracy is about living in an ecosystem between citizens, judiciary, executive, and legislature. Healthy democracy isn’t just about periodic elections but active participation for citizens’ awareness and welfare,” she remarked. She further added that rights are inherent and protecting them is a collective responsibility.

At the conclusion of the event, the jury announced the top five winners. Roshni Nula of United College secured the first position, followed by Lh Penahring of United College in second place. SK Jilihring of SEMCO secured third position, while Tongsin Phowlnihring of SEMCO and HL Amit Anal of United College secured fourth and fifth positions respectively.

The five winners will go on to represent Chandel district at the state-level competition.
