Senapati, August 16: Senapati Police and CRPF foiled a major drug trafficking attempt on August 15, seizing over 2 kg of suspected heroin powder and arresting two peddlers at T. Khullen Naka checkpoint.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Jenarul Mia (21) of Shasani, Maldah District, West Bengal, and Deba Das (18) of Bokajan Bazar, Karbi Anglong District, Assam. According to police, the duo concealed the contraband in a hidden compartment near the fuel tank of a black-and-red TVS Apache motorcycle (Regn. No. AS-09-F-2984) while travelling from Imphal towards Senapati.
During the operation, two packets of heroin weighing 2.066 kg were recovered along with two mobile phones and the motorcycle used in transporting the drugs.
The seizure was made in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, adhering to legal formalities. Police have registered a case at Senapati PS.
