IMPHAL, Dec 18: SpaceX founder Elon Musk has denied claims that Starlink satellite technology is being used in the restive region of Manipur, India. This follows reports that the Indian security forces had recently seized internet devices, along with arms and ammunition, during a raid in the Keirao Khunou area of Imphal East district.

The Spear Corps of the Indian Army shared images of the seized items on social media platform X, where users quickly noticed a device featuring the “Starlink” logo. One user pointed out, “@Starlink is being used by terrorists. Hope, Elon @elonmusk looks into it and helps control misuse of this technology.”
In response, Musk immediately refuted the claims, stating, “This is false. Starlink satellite beams are turned off over India.”
Among the items confiscated during the raid were an internet satellite antenna, a satellite router, and approximately 20 meters of FTP cables, along with a cache of arms and ammunition, including grenades, according to state police.
Starlink, which provides satellite internet services, does not have a license to operate in India, leading to further questions about the device’s presence.
