NEW DELHI, Oct 30: Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday took a sharp dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, claiming that his repeated remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi continue to harm his own party’s image and electoral prospects.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the third National Conference on the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), Rijiju said, “The Congress party has suffered due to the comments of Rahul Gandhi. Even good leaders within the Congress are embarrassed by his remarks. No leader should speak in such language.”
Rijiju’s criticism came after Rahul Gandhi, while addressing election rallies in Bihar, alleged that the Prime Minister would “do anything for votes, even dance,” and accused the BJP of running the Nitish Kumar-led government “by remote control.”
Responding to the remarks, Rijiju asserted that such statements reflect poorly on the Congress leadership and alienate voters further. “Every time Rahul Gandhi opens his mouth, the Congress faces losses. The people of India will never bring the Congress back to power if he continues to speak in this manner,” he said.
The senior BJP leader added that while the nation is progressing under the Modi government, the Congress continues to “face setbacks due to its own leadership failures.”
