SENAPATI, April 8: The District Administration of Senapati on Monday conducted eviction and clearance drives targeting illegal structures and drainage obstructions along key stretches of National Highway-02 and the Senapati River.
Led by Rang David Kung, MCS, Additional District Magistrate of Senapati, the operation along NH-02 spanned from Taphou Liangmai to Vishal Mall Junction at Rikhumai Taphou. The drive was conducted in coordination with Adahrii Maheo, MCS, CEO/ADC and Karong Senapati Town Committee, with active participation from the Naga People Organization, Senapati District Students’ Association, Senapati District Police, NHIDCL officials, and the concerned village authorities.

During the drive, all structures falling within the 10-meter Right of Way (ROW) of NH-02—including houses, boundary fences, storage sheds, and encroachments affecting cross and side drains—were dismantled. This eviction followed a prior notice issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Senapati, informing all residents and property owners along the Liangmai Taphou to Khongnem Thana stretch to remove encroachments.
Simultaneously, the District Administration carried out an eviction drive along the Senapati River. This phase of the operation, conducted under the ongoing “Clean Senapati River Campaign,” covered the stretch from Mt. Everest College parking area to Kathikho Karong.
The riverbank clearance targeted unauthorized structures such as toilets, pig sties, poultry farms, and outlets discharging waste directly into the river. As part of the operation, approximately 20 toilets and their outlets, three pig sties, and two poultry farms were dismantled.

These actions were supported by an earlier order from Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rang David Kung, which authorized the forcible removal of illegal structures and the imposition of penalties for improper waste disposal.
The District Administration has appealed to all residents of Senapati District to cooperate by voluntarily removing encroachments and unauthorized constructions to avoid further legal consequences.
