Imphal, Sept 25: Security forces in Manipur have conducted extensive search operations in vulnerable areas across the hill and valley districts, resulting in the seizure of a large cache of weapons and explosives. The Police Control Room reported that a joint team of the Army, BSF, and Manipur Police recovered items in the Bonjang Hill Range, Imphal East, including a 7.62 mm bolt-action sniper rifle with a 9x scope, a heavy-caliber launcher, a 12-bore single-barrel rifle, a .32 pistol with ammunition, a 2.5 kg explosive container, 25 live rounds, and a Baofeng radio set.
On Tuesday, authorities arrested Md Amir Ahmad, also known as Fajabi, a 32-year-old member of the banned militant group KYKL, in Lilong Lou Tara, Thoubal District. Ahmad was found with an extortion letter from the group, indicating his involvement in criminal activities.
Additionally, security forces have ensured the safe movement of essential goods along National Highways NH-37 and NH-2, successfully managing the transit of 253 and 362 vehicles. Heightened security measures are in effect at sensitive locations, with dedicated convoys in place to protect vehicle movement.
