Kerala reported its first case of MPox on Wednesday evening, as confirmed by State Health Minister Veena George via social media. This marks the second case of the disease in India.
Minister George highlighted that the state has made comprehensive arrangements, with 14 state-run hospitals ready to handle emergencies related to the disease. “Individuals arriving from abroad should seek medical help if they show any symptoms. Isolation protocols are established in hospitals, and nodal officers are assigned to manage these cases,” she said.
The patient, a 38-year-old man who returned from the UAE last week, was placed under observation due to suspected MPox. After several days, he developed rashes and a fever, leading to his admission to Manjeri Medical College Hospital on September 16, where he is now in isolation.
Doctors treating the patient reported that his fever has subsided, indicating a positive response to treatment.
Hope the concerned authority will take preventive measure and general public should also follow the SOP given by Health care institution.
