NEW DELHI, March 12: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced a ₹500 crore contingency fund for Manipur as part of efforts to support the state’s economic recovery. Addressing the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Nirmala Sitharaman stated that the Centre is committed to providing all possible financial assistance to speed up Manipur’s recovery process. She made the announcement while replying to a discussion on The Manipur Appropriation Bill, 2025 and The Manipur Appropriation (Vote on Account) Bill, 2025.

Both bills were passed by voice vote in the Lok Sabha. In her speech, the Finance Minister also highlighted that the overall law and order situation in Manipur has improved, with only some sporadic incidents remaining. She mentioned that ₹400 crore have been allocated for the operation of relief camps in the state, and under the Prime Minister’s Awas Yojana (PMAY), 7,000 houses have been approved to provide housing for displaced individuals.
