SENAPATI, June 18: The Foothills Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC) on Wednesday issued a strong statement cautioning the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, and Kuki militant groups against relocating any Suspension of Operations (SoO) camps into Naga-inhabited areas of Manipur.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, the FNCC declared, “Any attempt to relocate SoO camps into Naga areas will be met with fierce resistance and may result in bloodshed — another May 3-like situation in Manipur.” The Committee called for the immediate dismantling of existing SoO camps situated close to Naga territories, to prevent further unrest.
The FNCC further alleged that the ongoing encroachment and forceful occupation of Naga ancestral lands under the false narrative of an imagined ‘Kukiland’, isnothing shirt of agression. The organization described this as a direct provocation and a declaration of hostility, warning that such moves disregard the historical identity and territorial rights of the Naga people.
Listing a number of affected villages—Longsai, Kaiphundeijang, Nungnang, Thangbuk, Leimanei, Tingpui, Satang Naga area, Yaingangpokpi, Lungwiram, Kazanga, Konsakhul, Tumoyon Khullen—the FNCC claimed that these areas had faced unprovoked attacks. The Committee also accused Kuki groups of engaging in persistent and systematic land grabbing in regions including Kamjong, Tengnoupal, Chandel, Kangpokpi, Noney, and parts of Senapati district.
According to the statement, “When Naga villages are attacked, Kuki militants and their armed volunteers are mobilized en masse, yet the narrative is quickly manipulated to downplay such incidents as mere local disputes.” The FNCC alleged that this tactic is designed to suppress collective Naga resistance, but affirmed that the community is now vigilant and resolute.
The release futher warned, “Any future aggression will be met with an unwavering iron hand.”
The FNCC urged the Kuki community to demonstrate a genuine desire for peaceful coexistence by showing due respect to the history of Manipur and refrain from provoking the Nagas. It cautioned that further attempts to grab Nagas land will come at a heavy price.
