KOHIMA, Feb 19: The Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) and representatives of 12 Naga tribal organizations have issued a public declaration urging the immediate implementation of the January 14 Treatise, following a critical meeting held on February 18. The declaration stresses the need for Naga Political Groups (NPGs) to heed the people’s call for unity and reconciliation, calling for prioritizing Naga unity in the spirit of oneness.

The January 14 Treatise reaffirms the commitment to strengthening the 2009 Covenant of Reconciliation, honoring Naga historical and political rights as outlined in key documents like the Naga Memorandum to the Simon Commission (1929), the Declaration of Naga Independence (1947), and the Naga Voluntary Plebiscite (1951). It emphasizes protecting Naga ancestral territories and rights and calls for all Naga Political Groups to unite in their efforts. The declaration warns that any failure to act on the Treatise will be held accountable by the Naga public.
