DIMAPUR, May 5: The Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) on Sunday issued a clarification stating that it is neither organizing nor has it agreed to participate in the upcoming “Common Platform for Resolving Indo-Naga Political Issue” scheduled to be held on May 14 at Agri Expo, Dimapur.
In a statement dated May 4, the FNR stated, “While the quest for Nagas to come together is clearly undisputed and needing careful and thoughtful steering, the ‘Common Platform for resolving Indo-Naga political issue‘ is not organized by the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) nor has FNR come to the point of consenting at this point in time, to be a part of this program.”
While acknowledging the need for Naga unity, the forum emphasized that more time and support from all stakeholders is essential. “A virtuous work needs the support of every Naga organization and some more time is needed,” the statement added.
Although the FNR had not publicly shared this earlier, it disclosed that since January 14, 2025, the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) and Naga Tribal Hohos have held nine rounds of meetings “based on the Historical and Political rights of the Nagas.”
“We are in the midst of a process and we have reached a sensitive point, which needs some more time. More meetings are on the schedule,” the forum noted, indicating that deliberations are ongoing and require careful handling.
Reaffirming its dedication to unity and inclusivity, the FNR stated, “All Nagas must come together and in this no one is left out.” It further appealed for patience and mutual understanding: “Lest we falter, let us understand each other’s difficulties and be more patient. What we have garnered, with much toil, must not be allowed to slip by.”
In conclusion, the FNR reiterated its foundational belief: “Doors must be kept open for the future.” The forum also urged all parties to uphold the “Covenant of Reconciliation” and remain committed to the broader goal of Naga unity and political resolution.
