Imphal, September 12: The Foothills Naga Co-ordination Committee (FNCC) has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through BJP MP and national spokesperson Dr. Sambit Patra, voicing strong opposition to the demand for a separate administration in Manipur and raising concerns over the presence of Kuki militant groups in Naga ancestral lands.
The memorandum categorically rejected any proposal to set up Suspension of Operation (SoO) camps for Kuki militants in areas such as Kharam Vaiphei, J. Thomkholui, and Sijang, urging their immediate eviction. It further pressed for verification of internally displaced persons in Kangpokpi and adjoining regions, along with the detection and deportation of illegal immigrants and Kuki refugees under national security provisions.
Seeking protection of indigenous rights, the FNCC called for safeguarding Naga customary land ownership as guaranteed by the Constitution and local jurisprudence. It also demanded accountability of security forces, alleging inaction or collusion with SoO groups accused of continuing “criminal and terror activities” in the region.
