Imphal, August 9: Former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on Friday hosted TIPRA Motha Party founder and leader Maharaja Pradyot Manikya Debbarma at his residence in Heingang, underscoring the deep historical and cordial ties between Manipur and Tripura.
During the meeting, the two leaders engaged in extensive discussions on pressing regional challenges, particularly illegal immigration and land encroachment—issues that have long affected both states. Singh emphasised the need for collaborative approaches, stating that united efforts could effectively tackle these concerns.
“It was an honour to host the founder and leader of the TIPRA Motha Party, Maharaja @PradyotManikya, at my residence today. Manipur and Tripura share deep historical ties and a cordial relationship that continues to this day. As both our states face the pressing challenges of illegal immigration and encroachment, we discussed ways to work together to address these concerns,” Singh wrote in a post on X.
The former chief minister praised the TIPRA Motha chief’s “steadfast commitment” to the people of Tripura and the Northeast, adding, “Together, we will prevail.”
Several senior BJP legislators, including Sapam Kunjakeswar, Kh Ibomcha, Govindas Konthoujam, RK Imo Singh, along with NPP MLA Thongam Shant, were also present at the meeting, reflecting the political significance of the dialogue.
