SENAPATI, June 11: Former MLA K. Raina visited the flood-affected areas of the Zeme community in Senapati district headquarters today, extending much-needed support to victims of the recent flash floods. His visit was met with appreciation from affected families, who welcomed his timely assistance and concern during a difficult time.
The flooding, triggered by intense rainfall beginning on May 30, caused widespread damage across the district. While no casualties or missing persons have been reported, the floods devastated 61 localities, damaged 1,445 houses, and led to the loss of livestock. In response, the District Administration swiftly evacuated residents to temporary shelter homes set up across various places.
354 people have been relocated to safe shelters, including facilities at the Skill Cum Rural Entrepreneurship Development Centre, ADC offices, and numerous designated shelters.
